The Chorale will open the 2006-2007 season with a concert that celebrates
the 250th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart. Chorus, soloists, and orchestra will combine in a performance of
Mozart’s beloved motet “Ave verum corpus” and movements from his
Vespers. The concert will open with the spirited Choral Fantasy by
Beethoven and the rousing “Hallelujah!” from his Mount of Olives
cantata. The second half of the program will feature Christmas works by
Rutter, Wilberg, and a Mark Hayes medley of carols. The audience should
be ready for a delightful setting of “Jingle Bells” as well the
chorale’s traditional closer --- “White Christmas.”
